There are only 2 Black Master Sommeliers in the entire United States; Carlton is one of them, beating the odds of being raised in Washington D.C. during the 80s crack epidemic and living the streetlife, to attending the Culinary Institute of America, becoming Wine Director at Little Nell in Aspen, Colorado, and being offered his current position, President & CEO of the legendary Heitz Cellar Winery in Napa Valley. This is a must-listen for anyone born into difficult odds.
